Proofreading
This is the final step in the editorial process. Your proofreader is the keen surveyor of your work prior to production. Most of the issues have been fixed by this step. The proofreader’s goal is to catch any issues previous edits may have missed.
Your proofreader will look for a number of errors such as:
• Spelling
• Typos
• Grammatical errors
• Punctuation and style consistency
• Layout and typographical consistency
• Page and word break flow
Proofread will not include:
• Fact-checking
• Story issues such as pacing, voice, point of view, etc.
This is also the time to submit a Style Sheet. A style sheet provides your proofreader with any unusual spellings or writing style in your manuscript. Your proofreader will send back your notated manuscript with the changes for you to make.
Congratulations! After you’ve made the suggested changes, you’re very close to the production of your book.
You may still have questions or doubts your about the readiness of your book to go production. Reach out the EPP consultant to discuss other editorial and production options.
